Peerawat JariyasombatA forgotten place in the Deep South of Thailand, Narathiwat is not top of the list for those who're planning a vacation. Though it is not the tallest Ganesha statue in Thailand, he is proud of it as it is a very beautiful one. It is believed that Toh Imam Wan Hussein As-Sanawi, from Pattani province, built it in 1624. The entire mosque is built from wood and is a mix of Thai, Chinese and Malay architectural styles. It is remarkable that the statue was built during a time when Narathiwat was under the shadow of terrorism.
